Maserati takes a different track with Trofeo

Maserati takes a different track with Trofeo CarsGuide 4 days ago Stephen Corby Maseratis make a certain amount of sense to a certain kind of person. As the folks who run the brand in Australia will tell you, its buyers are the kind of people who’ve driven German premium vehicles, but find themselves wanting something more.  They are older, wiser and, most importantly, richer.  While it’s easy to see the high-end lure of Maserati’s Italian sex appeal styling and luxuriously appointed interiors, they’ve always struck me as cruisers rather than bruisers.  Again, they’re for the older, more generously padded buyer, which makes the Trofeo range something of an oddity. Maserati says its Trofeo badge - seen here on its mid-sized sedan, the Ghibli, which sits below the vast Quattroporte limousine (and side on to the other car in the range, the SUV Levante) - is all about the Art of Fast .

There are four drives mode to choose from: Norma, Sport, Corsa (race) and Ice. Corsa mode also activates a launch control function. Externally, the Trofeo range scores a number of body enhancements including lowered front fascias, aggressive rear diffusers, and blacked-out grilles. Red-accented Trofeo badging is complemented by red-trimmed air vents on the front wheel arches, while the bonnets of the Ghibli and Levante feature aggressively-styled air vents. The Quattroporte misses out on this feature. All three Trofeo models ride on 21-inch alloy wheels, although the high-riding Levante can be optioned with 22-inch units. Inside, full-grain Pieno Fiore leather is accented by carbon-fibre trim and Alcantara headlining. A new 10.1-inch colour touchscreen anchors the infotainment in the Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans, with the Levante retaining its incumbent 8.4-inch display, although Maserati claims the smaller unit has been treated to improved resolution and sharper graphics.

Maserati Trofeo Series: The Zegna Suit That Goes 203MPH

Maserati Trofeo Series: The Zegna Suit That Goes 203MPH Highsnobiety Drives: The Zegna Suit That Goes 203MPH Highsnobiety / Jonathan Schley “Highsnobiety Drives” is a new series where we take some of the newest, fastest, and most fascinating vehicles on Planet Earth for a spin. For our inaugural column, Car Correspondent Jonathan Schley hits the track in Maserati’s 2021 Trofeo line, which comprises three luxury cars outfitted with Ferrari engines and optional Zegna interiors. Willow Springs International Raceway is a place of automotive lore due to its unchanged configuration since 1953. The “Fastest Road in the West” has rough and uneven pavement, and is an unforgiving stretch that will push any street car to the limit. So when Maserati invited Highsnobiety to put its new 2021 Trofeo line through the wringer, I jumped on it.

Maserati Ghibli tops Best Cars 2021 in Germany

Maserati’s successful Ghibli has already won several prizes and awards, and it has received a very special one as it won the ‘Upper Middle Class – Import’ category at Best Cars 2021. Initiator of this readers choice is the leading German car magazine Auto Motor Und Sport. More than 100,000 readers had followed the call and picked their favourites from 378 vehicles in eleven categories. This is the 45th time that these prestigious awards have been held. Davide Grasso, CEO Maserati, said: “Ghibli is an iconic Maserati model. With over 100,000 units produced since its launch in 2013, this model perfectly embodies our DNA and the brand’s values. For this reason we have chosen Ghibli to ignite the spark of electrification which projects the brand into the future: last year we revealed the new Ghibli Hybrid, the first hybrid vehicle in Maserati’s history.”
