As of Tuesday morning, 94 people at the jail had tested positive 17 staff members and 77 inmates, according to numbers provided by Manitoba Justice. There are 88 active cases at the facility and six people have recovered. On Monday, 42 inmates had tested positive, meaning 35 new cases were found among inmates in the institution that has a rated capacity of 244 adult men. The number cases at the jail is a major concern, said Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union president Michelle Gawronsky. The union represents approximately 190 workers at the jail.
