With spring break approaching, colleges are taking precautions to minimize the potential for a travel-related COVID-19 surge upon the students’ return to campus.
MISSOULA â As the COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues its early stages, the University of Montana has begun the process of protecting its most vulnerable students.
A critical part of Phase 1B of the vaccine rollout plan was to provide vaccines to Native Americans and other people of color in Montana. Some students who fall into those groups, including several UM men s basketball players, received shots at a Feb. 1 distribution clinic. I don t know when in my life, in my 50 years, I ve experienced someone identifying minorities at risk and wanting to do something about it, head UM men s basketball coach Travis DeCuire said. So I think when you look at a county that wants to address that in terms of safety, it s a rarity. I m grateful that the University of Montana has been able to play a role in that.
Within Mississippi State University s Cullis Wade Depot, an art exhibition titled Crafted Identities is showcasing the identity-aligned work of 12 artists who reside in various parts of the U.S.Â
This exhibition will present these profound artistic expressions through Feb. 19Â and is available to preview in-person on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition can also be viewed online in order to extend accessibility due to restrictions caused by COVID-19.
Lori Neuenfeldt, art history instructor and gallery director for the Mississippi State University Galleries of Art described the context of the exhibition and the general reasoning behind its individuality-focused title.Â
