Updated: 5:48 PM EST Mar 11, 2021 A teenager is dead after he was involved in a violent motor vehicle crash on Route 1A in East Boston Wednesday night, according to the victim s mother.Boston police said two vehicles collided just before 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of McClellan Highway and Addison Street. One of the vehicles slammed into a telephone pole and the other into a guardrail. The driver of the vehicle that hit the pole was pronounced dead at the scene, he was identified by the DA s office Thursday as 18-year-old Jonathan Hernandez. A female juvenile passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.The victim s family said he was a teenager, however police have not released his identity. A friend of the victim said the two people inside the car were boyfriend and girlfriend. Chaos, one witness said. It s really sad.
