A West Virginia woman who disappeared last week has been found dead in the cargo area of her vehicle in a Walmart parking lot, authorities said Sunday.
Alexa Randolph was last seen Thursday afternoon at her apartment in Morgantown, the Morgantown Police Department said in a news release. Attempts to contact Randolph were unsuccessful and her vehicle, a white 2018 Ford Escape, was missing.
Detectives investigating Randolph s disappearance found her vehicle around 4 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of a Walmart on Hornbeck Road, according to police. Investigators discovered a body in the cargo area of the vehicle. Police said the body was identified as Randolph.
The death of a former Fayette County woman whose body was found in her car in Morgantown, West Virginia, is being investigated as a homicide.
Alexa Randolph, 32, was reported missing last Thursday. At 4 p.m. Friday, detectives from the Morgantown Police Department located her white 2018 Ford Escape in a Walmart parking lot on Hornbeck Road. Police reported they found Randolphâs body in the cargo area of the vehicle.
On Monday, the Monongalia County sheriff indicated that office would lead the investigation into the death of Randolph, an alumna of Albert-Gallatin Area High School.
âThis case is being investigated as a homicide and the integrity of the investigation will dictate future release of information,â the office stated in a release.

The Morgantown City Council heard a presentation on a proposed ordinance to create a civilian police review and advisory board at a workshop meeting Tuesday night. If approved, the proposed board would be the second of its kind in West Virginia.
Over the past seven months, a special committee has gathered input from experts on police reform along with a variety of Morgantown city leaders and community members.
“We went section by section and we had a room of people in there,” said Jerry Carr, president of the Morgantown/Kingwood Branch of the NAACP. “We discussed it, we debated it, we argued sometimes. And then when we were done with a particular section we’d move onto the next one.”
