View Comments The Region 3 Louisiana Water Initiative Regional Steering Committee took the first steps in determining who will administer in flood control efforts in northeast Louisiana.  In response to the floods in 2018, Gov. John Bel Edwards launched the Louisiana Watershed Initiative, which takes on a strategic and scientific approach to managing the watersheds and floodplains in the state and helps to target frequently flooded areas.  The Region 3 Louisiana Watershed Initiative hosted a community meeting Tuesday to discuss the provision governance recommendation approved by the Regional Steering Committee. The governance recommendation for Region 3 offered the forming of a long-term Watershed Coalition comprised of private and public representatives.
