In the domestic market, with sales of 1,51,19,387 units or a little over 15 million units, total numbers were down 13.19 percent year on year but the statistics would have been worse if not for improved fortunes in Q4 FY2021. Interestingly, even as global markets witnessed troubled times of their own, the Indian two-wheeler industry exported all of 3.27 million units (32,77,724 units)which marks a relatively low 6.87 percent YoY decline (FY2020: 35,19,405). Two companies shine for their made-in-India export effort: Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co. While Bajaj Auto, the country’s No. 1 two-wheeler exporter, shipped nearly 1.8 million units (-3.89 percent), Chennai-based TVS dispatched 7,64,039 units to overseas markets to notch a solid 12.55 percent YoY growth.

New Delhi: The country s largest two wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Thursday said it will cover the COVID-19 vaccination cost of its workforce, including permanent and contractual employees. The Pawan Munjal-led company plans to cover 80,000 people under this initiative.
Hero joins a host of other automobile manufacturing companies and their component suppliers like Toyota Kirloskar, TVS Motor Co, Skoda Auto Volkswagen Indian Ltd and others, who have decided to bear covid-19 vaccine costs for all employees.
