I-10 west in Las Cruces reopens after hours-long truck fire closure KVIA LAS CRUCES, New Mexico Interstate 10 westbound in the Las Cruces area was shut down Saturday evening for several hours due to a semi-truck fire that forced traffic to be diverted. The fire was reported by the New Mexico Department of Transportation around 6:15 p.m. on I-10 west at milepost 139. New Mexico State Police said no injuries were reported. All lanes were finally reopened as of 10:15 p.m., according to NMDOT. Police detoured traffic off I-10 and onto Motel Boulevard to Picacho Avenue during the closure as motorists were advised to avoid the interstate and use an alternate route if possible.
