Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the creation of a special wing in Odisha Police to curb rising crime against women and children.
Speaking at the valedictory session of 62nd Senior Police Officers’ Conference here on Wednesday, Patnaik said the focus area of his government is always to stave off offences against women and children.
Stressing on the improvement of quality of policing in the State, the Chief Minister said the aim of Mo Sarkar has been that people coming to Police Stations should be treated with dignity. It is satisfying to see that the feedback taken under Mo Sarkar has been very positive, he added.
BJD-BJP ‘understanding’ ends
Bhubaneswar: Seven months after the 2019 general elections, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and senior leaders Biju Janata Dal (BJD) seem to have decided raise their voice against the Modi government at the Centre for the first time.
This was apparent when all BJD leaders openly criticised the Centre at the party’s executive body meeting here Sunday.
Earlier, the BJD had been cribbing about the financial neglect of the Centre towards the state, but since the last elections, the party had completely fallen silent against the Modi government. People perceived such cryptic silence of the BJD against the Centre was fallout of a secret understanding between the two parties.
Delay in wage payments to invite action: Naveen
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday directed the district magistrates (DMs) to ensure that not a single poor family suffers from lack of livelihood in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Naveen was reviewing the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and urban livelihood mission in all the districts through videoconferencing with the Collectors.
“The Covid-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented challenge before us since last March. The world economic growth has slowed down and the poor people have suffered the most. The government’s priority is to ensure employment in this difficult time for the poor,” he said.

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has urged the District Collectors to ensure that the livelihood programmes must be implemented effectively to benefit the poor.
Reviewing the MGNREGA programme and urban employment schemes here on Tuesday through video conferencing, Patnaik warned the officials not to sideline the poor and the needy during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Chief Minister said it is the priority of his government to provide employment opportunities to the poor people in the rural regions of Odisha during the pandemic.
He said the government has targeted for the creation of 20 crore mandays through the livelihood programmes and added that strict action will be taken against those officials who will not take adequate measures for disbursement of payments to the people immediately.

BHUBANESWAR: Claiming that investors’ sentiment towards Odisha is extremely encouraging, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said on Saturday the state is set to achieve its cherished goal of becoming a world-class industrial destination.
Speaking at the 93rd annual convention of the FICCI, state’s industry partner over virtual platform on the subject ‘Aspiring Odisha for Inspired India’, Naveen highlighted Odisha’s industrial ecosystem and growth in the last two decades.
He also requested the FICCI to nominate dedicated teams to work with the state government in sectors like food processing, chemicals, tourism and information technology to realise the goal of becoming a world-class industrial destination.
