Jordan Harvey was one of LAFC’s first MLS Free Agent signings ahead of their debut season in 2018, and the ageless wonder continues to go strong.
I suspect pretty much every year since he started at LAFC, the expectation of the club was that this would be the last year for Harvey playing on the squad, surely he’ll hit a wall and will gracefully retire, there’s no way he can keep going.
But 2020 was Harvey’s 15th season in MLS, and while he relinquished his grip on the starter’s role for the first time since he broke through with the Colorado Rapids in 2008, he still played a pretty useful role.

LAFC announced Wednesday they have re-signed defender Jordan Harvey to a new one-year contract ahead of the 2021 season.
Harvey, 36, will return for his fourth season with the black-and-gold, and his 16th in MLS overall.
“Jordan has been an integral part of our Club since joining us ahead of our inaugural campaign in 2018,” said Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington in a team statement. “Not only has he brought a wealth of experience and leadership to the locker room, but he has also served as a fantastic ambassador in our community.”

Orlando City acquired left back Joao Moutinho in exchange for Mohamed El-Munir back on Dec. 11, 2018. One of the knocks on Moutinho at the time was an inability to stay healthy and that has continued to be a concern during his time in Orlando. However, when on the pitch, the 22-year-old has developed into one of the top left backs in all of Major League Soccer.
After a stellar MLS is Back Tournament and starts in Orlando City’s first eight league games this season, Moutinho sustained what was thought to be a groin injury at the time and ended up having hip surgery after the 2020 season following unsuccessful rehab to try to get back on the pitch prior to the end of the year.

Club América out of Mexico and Major League Soccer’s LAFC advanced to Saturday’s semifinals on the second night of Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals at Exploria Stadium after dispatching Atlanta United and Cruz Azul, respectively.
Atlanta United looked to erase a 3-0 aggregate score line in the opening match against Liga MX side Club América, while LAFC and Mexican side Cruz Azul met in a single-leg quarterfinal match in the nightcap.
The Five Stripes could only eke out a 1-0 win in the early match to fall 3-1 on aggregate. LAFC then came from behind to beat Cruz Azul 2-1 in the nightcap to keep MLS hopes alive in the competition.
