JOHOR BARU, May 23 A former director of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Tanjung Sedili maritime zone was charged at the Sessions Court here today with receiving a RM10,000 bribe last year.
Mohd Zulfadli Nayan, 40, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge read before Judge Datuk Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail.
The accused, who is now attached to the MMEA headquarters in Putrajaya, is charged with receiving the bribe from Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Kamaruddin, at a restaurant here on Oct 2 last year.

The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment, and whipping at least 10 strokes, upon conviction.
The court set June 22 for case management and Nov 8 and 23 to hear the case.

KOTA BHARU: An unemployed man who set fire to the kitchen of his father’s house was sentenced to five years’ jail by the Sessions Court here today for the offence.
Judge Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin handed down the sentence on Mohd Fauzie Abdullah, 33, after the man pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of arrest, which was last March 29.
Mohd Fauzi was charged with setting fire to the kitchen of a house belonging to Abdullah Hamat, 68, in Kuala Krai at about 1am last March 24.
