Federal Government Scholarship Program Opens Applications For 2022 Program

WASHINGTON, Feb. 16, 2021 /PRNewswire/ English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) will accept applications now through July 8, 2021.
EHLS is an intensive advanced English and professional skills program that prepares non-native English speakers from a variety of fields for careers with the federal government. The program runs January through August, with six months of full-time study at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.) and two months of part-time online study. After completing EHLS, graduates work for the federal government in a position with national security responsibilities for at least one year. EHLS is an initiative of the National Security Education Program (NSEP) and the Defense Language and National Security Education Office (DLNSEO).

Garapati Umamaheswara Rao of the University of Hyderabad has been elected president of the Linguistic Society of India (LSI).
He is the first one from the Telugu states to have been elected for the post. Prof. Rao, who worked as Director of the Centre for Applied Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Hyderabad, has over 35 years of experience. He was also a former president of the Dravidian Linguists Association and member of the General Council, Kendra Sahitya Academy. Founded about a hundred years ago, it remains a major contributor to the development of the languages of 130 crore Indians.
