NEW YORK One hundred and four votes that’s what separates Councilman Bill Perkins, a veteran of city and state politics, and Kristin Richardson Jordan, a third generation Harlemite and a vocal progressive who is a newcomer to politics and leads in this still too close to call race for the City Council s 9th District. One hundred and four votes up and victorious in District 9, Richardson Jordan told NY1 in a Tuesday interview. “I am just very excited and very humbled by that.”

HARLEM, NY Challenger Kristin Richardson Jordan appears set to defeat incumbent Bill Perkins in Central Harlem’s District 9 City Council primary, according to new the latest results released Tuesday, a result that appears set to shake the neighborhood s political foundations.
Jordan, 34, took a 275-vote lead last week after the Board of Elections released the ranked-choice results from all votes cast in-person. On Tuesday, the Board added more than 2,700 absentee ballots to the mix and Jordan retained her lead, though it narrowed to just 100 votes.
