The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday moved the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court order allowing the house arrest of four Trinamool Congress leaders in the Narada bribery case,
Live Law reported. The central agency also sought an adjournment of hearing at the Calcutta High Court, scheduled for Monday.
The Supreme Court is likely to hear the case around 10.30 am, according to NDTV.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested West Bengal Ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee and Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra in the Narada bribery case, PTI reported.
Former Trinamool Congress leader Sovan Chatterjee has also been arrested in the case, according to the news agency. He had quit Trinamool Congress in 2019 to join Bharatiya Janata Party, but left the saffron party too, in March. He did not contest the elections this year.
Hakim alleged that he was arrested in the case without prior notice, News18 reported. “I will challenge my arrest in court,” he added.

The Centre has convened a meeting of the high-powered search committee to choose the new director of the Central Bureau of Investigation on May 24, it is learnt. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana and Congress Lok Sabha floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury are the members of the committee.
While informing the members about the date of the meeting, a long list of probables for the CBI chief’s post too has been attached with.
