Centre allocates additional 19,420 vials of Amphotericin-B to States, UTs

In view of the rising Mucormycosis (commonly known as black fungus) cases across the country, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers on Tuesday informed that it has allocated 19,420 additional vials of Amphotericin-B to various States and Union Territories. Additional 19,420 vials of #Amphotericin-B have been allocated to all States/UTs and Central Institutions today. Besides this, 23680 vials of Amphotericin- B were allocated across country on 21st May , tweeted the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, DV Sadananda Gowda. Mucormycosis or black fungus is a fungal infection caused by exposure to mucor mould which is commonly found in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables.

Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, May 25 : The Centre has allocated to states and the Union Territories (UTs) 19,420 additional Amphotericin-B vials, a key drug to treat raging mucormycosis cases in India. Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers D.V Sadananda Gowda announced that the additional 19,420 vials of Amphotericin-B were allocated to all states and the UTs and central institutions on May 24. Besides this, 23,680 vials of Amphotericin-B were allocated across country on May 21, Gowda informed through his tweet, at a time when more than 9,000 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) cases have been reported from various places across the country.

Gowda took to Twitter and informed about the allocation of drugs. Additional 1,030 vials of Amphotericin-B have been allocated to Karnataka today. Earlier, 1,270 additional vials of the drug were allocated to the state on 21st May, he tweeted. He also informed that additional 19,420 vials of Amphotericin- B have been allocated to all States/UTs and Central Institutions today. In the last 24 hours till 8 AM on Tuesday, India reported 3,511 deaths, as per the Health Ministry data. The daily test positivity rate is also lower than 10 per cent at 9.54 per cent on Tuesday.
