RPM Access has sold the project to BHE Renewables, which is based in Des Moines.
Dustin Van Diepen with BHE says they’re excited to be in the area – and they have a couple goals as they begin a new relationship with the community.
The Independence Wind Farm will be located southwest of Manchester, starting on the west side of Highway 13 about two miles south of Highway 20 and extending about two miles north of Ryan. They’re expecting to construct nineteen wind turbines that will look pretty similar to the wind turbines near Greeley, but with a slightly larger turbine at 2.82 megawatts. The wind turbines are expected to arrive later this summer, with the project up and running by November. The power produced by the new wind turbines will be purchased by CIPCO, the Central Iowa Power Cooperative based in Marion.
DES MOINES, Iowa (BUSINESS WIRE) BHE Renewables today announced it has completed the acquisition of the 54-megawatt Independence wind energy project from RPM

Johnson County landowners consider trading ethanol crop for fields of solar in $4.7M project Source: By Zachary Oren Smith, Iowa City Press-Citizen • Posted: Wednesday, April 28, 2021
On land that has yielded corn and beans, Jim Dane and some other Johnson County farmers may see something new produced.
Locally, the Dane name is associated with Dane’s Dairy, a popular ice cream shop just off Highway 1 now run by his sister. But Jim Dane still works 500 acres his family accumulated over the last century. Today, 200 acres are in the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program; some of the remaining 300 are in row crop.
