Tom Hintgen, Fergus Falls, Minn., as he’s a big fan of traveling by rail.
In his 2019 book “Golden Memories of the Fergus Falls Area,” Tom included information about passenger trains to and from Fergus Falls until 1971, when passenger service to that area was discontinued. Here is some of what he wrote.
The Red River
It was a busy time just before 9 each morning at the Great Northern railway station in Fergus Falls during the 1950s and 1960s. That’s when passengers waited to board the Red River train heading eastward to the Twin Cities and points in between.
