Starting May 17th, 2021 at 12:01 am through June 13th, 2021 @ 11:59 pm, 98.9 WCLZ will be collecting entries for its “CLZ Summer Shirt” contest. Entrants will use the provided 98.9 WCLZ logo on the contest page on 989wclz.com, to create an original design to be featured on limited edition 98.9 WCLZ t-shit. The provided logo must not be modified, but incorporated into the submitted design as a main component. Designs can be saved in JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF format. Entrants will submit their design on 989wclz.com. Any submitted designs without the provided 98.9 WCLZ logo will be disqualified.
Upon the completion of the promotion, the 98.9 WCLZ Program Director and Promotions Director will decide in their sole discretion, the winning design of the ‘CLZ Summer Shirt contest. Two Maine music therapists along with a Maine-based theatre producer and director will present the results of their pandemic-related workshops. The talks are part of the Jack Pine Project, a community arts project organized by the Maine Folklife Center, Maine Studies Program and Fred Hutchinson Center at the University of Maine.
The first talk, presented by Zoom on Friday, April 16th at 7:00 pm, will feature music therapists Carla Tanguay and Kate Beever, who conducted separate workshops that taught non-musicians how to express their thoughts and feelings about the Covid pandemic through songs. Both will present the songs created during their workshops and talk about the process involved, as well as what their students said about the project.

CYY Local Music Spotlight- New Music From Spencer Albee
CYY knows that 2021 is going to be an OK year because we have new music from Spencer Albee. You know Spencer from his six solo albums plus his work with Space vs Speed, Spencer and the School Spirit Mafia, As Fast As, Rocktopus, and Rustic Overtones.
Spencer does it all-Producer, Songwriter, Instrumentalist, and Podcaster. He is the force behind Portland s iconic Beatles Night with Spencer and the Walrus. He s worked with everyone from David Bowie to De La Soul. CYY has probably played more music from all of Spencer s projects over the years than any other local artist.
