On the eve of Minor League Baseball Opening Day, one of the best pitchers to ever come out of Mississippi State got a familiar assignment to begin his first full season as a professional.
Four hours due south of Dudy Noble Field in Starkville is MGM Park in Biloxi where Ethan Small is set to make his Double A debut with the Shuckers.

That puts him on the fast track to make his Major League debut, possibly as soon as this season, with a dominant 0.86 ERA across 21 minor league innings pitched in 2019.
Earlier that same year, Small came up very big for the Bulldogs, winning SEC Pitcher of the Year en route to their College World Series appearance.
