Court snubs Microsoft, US govt s request to throw out Amazon s complaint against JEDI cloud contract decision

Copy Updated The US Court for Federal Claims on Wednesday denied motions by the Department of Justice and Microsoft to dismiss an Amazon Web Services lawsuit challenging the Defense Department s decision to award its Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud computing contract to the Windows giant. Since 2019, AWS has been trying to overturn the government s determination to hand Microsoft the $10bn single-vendor JEDI contract following a multi-year battle. Last October, AWS claimed in a court filing that President Trump had interfered in the Defense Department s procurement process due to his apparent dislike of Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.

The JEDI saga continues — court denies government s motion to dismiss AWS protest

The JEDI saga continues: Court denies motion to dismiss AWS protest of political interference defense (DOD / Lisa Ferdinando) Apr 28, 2021 | FEDSCOOP The Court of Federal Claims issued a sealed decision Wednesday denying a motion by the Department of Justice and Microsoft to dismiss Amazon’s protest of the Pentagon’s $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI) cloud contract. While the decision to dismiss wasn’t made available to the public, Amazon confirmed the court’s denial. Amazon has two main claims in its larger JEDI protest of Microsoft’s award: That “DOD consistently and repeatedly made prejudicial errors, at every step along the way, that systematically favored Microsoft,” and that this happened because of overt influence from President Trump and other high-level government officials, who wanted to do harm to Amazon.
