“We have put in place a very viable program to remove lead piping from the city side and we have provided an interim measure through the water filter program which, when you take the two together, means that nobody should be finding themselves drinking water with lead in it,” said Coun. COVID-19 positive staff at Saskatchewan’s hardest-hit long term care home were given permission to return to work before completing a 14-day quarantine because of an “extreme staff shortage,” according to a confidential report obtained by Postmedia.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority issued a special exemption on Dec. 9 for employees at Extendicare Parkside to return to work after 10 days instead of the mandated 14. That same day, it entered into a co-management agreement with the privately-operated home.

NDP Leader Ryan Meili is calling on the government to release confidential advice that guided pandemic decision making, as he argues that doctors and politicians are sending starkly different messages on the threat from persistently high cases of COVID-19.
Meili added that demand to a call he has repeatedly made for Moe to visit Regina’s struggling intensive care units. He repeated it again on Monday, noting that a leading ICU doctor, a nurse and a grieving wife have either supported the call for a visit or confirmed it would be appropriate. “Give me one good reason why he won’t show up,” Meili asked.
