The Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF) has responded to claims of unethical behaviour by dropping a proposal to involve a candidate for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) elections in voting procedures at regional level.
One official from Fiji said the Pacific island nations were being treated as performing idiots and, by being required to vote by email, would be denied a secret ballot which is the cornerstone of a fair election .

NORTHERN Ireland has reduced festive bubbles to Christmas Day only in a tough coronavirus crackdown.
The country will be plunged into a harsh lockdown on Boxing Day - as Stormont ministers mull whether to impose a ban on flights from the rest of the UK.

The decision on festive bubbles was agreed by Stormont executives during an emergency virtual executive meeting late on Sunday night.
It comes as the North s health service comes under severe pressure, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has confirmed help will be provided, but says services here will not be affected.
Queues of ambulances could be seen this week, lined up at accident and emergency departments across Northern Ireland, as patients were treated in car parks due to a lack of capacity inside.
The HSE says the republic s National Ambulance Service was contacted by their counterparts in Northern Ireland for assistance and several volunteer teams responded, agreeing to help in areas of Belfast, Craigavon and Lisburn across the weekend.
