But he insisted that it’s still too soon for vaccinated New Jerseyans to get rid of masks even though the state’s number’s are improving as vaccinations continue. Gov. Murphy doubles-down on N.J. indoor mask mandate as N.Y., Pa. switch to adopt CDC guidance Updated 3:47 PM; Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday he will formally sign an executive order eliminating New Jersey’s 10-month-old outdoor public mask mandate but he doubled-down on keeping the state’s indoor public mask mandate in place to help protect against the coronavirus despite neighboring states adopting new federal guidelines. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced an hour earlier on Monday that his state will follow federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidance that says fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear face coverings or socially distance in most circumstances both indoors and outdoors. Last week, another of New Jersey’s next-door neighbors, Pennsylvania, announced it was adopting the CDC’s guidance.
