The rivalry with England does not consume German fans the way it does the English, and there was no bitterness that defeat had come at the hands of Gareth Southgate’s team.
Instead the German press focused on the disbelief with which their English counterparts reacted to finally overcoming their old enemy.

They really haven’t thought this through. After July 19, the supposed “terminus date” for restrictions, we will no longer be required by law to wear face masks – but reportedly, ministers will “advise” us to keep on wearing them, all the same.
Sorry, but the Government has got to make its mind up. Either we do need to wear masks, or we don’t. This woolly, indecisive new approach will cause chaos. At least when we were forced to wear the things, we were all in the same boat. After July 19, however, we’ll be horribly divided.
