6 CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah - It was a morning of transitions as the Utah Army National Guard held a ceremony for the incoming and outgoing commanders of the Land Component Command on Tarbet Field at Camp Williams, Utah, May 1, 2021. The Land Component Command is the headquarters for deployable Utah Army National Guard units and is responsible for overseeing the training and readiness of six major subordinate commands, comprised of approximately 4,400 Soldiers. The commander of the Land Component Command is accountable to the adjutant general to ensure these commands and their subordinate units are prepared to respond to any domestic or foreign contingency.

Col Charlene Dalto promoted to brigadier general for Utah Army National Guard

SALT LAKE CITY The Utah Army National Guard has promoted Col. Charlene Dalto to the position of brigadier general. Dalto becomes the first woman in the history of the Utah Army National Guard to reach the rank of a brigadier general. At the change-of-command ceremony Saturday at Camp Williams, Dalto assumed the role of commander of the Utah Army National Guard Land Component Command from Brig. Gen. Thomas C. Fisher. Dalto is a registered nurse for Intermountain Healthcare. According to a statement, she has commanded the Utah Army National Guard s Medical Detachment since February 2018. She has served in the military for more than 38 years, first, as an enlisted soldier who rose to the rank of master sergeant. She then served for 18 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp.

8 SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox made his first official visit as governor to the 151st Air Refueling Wing, Utah Air National Guard, on April 28, where he received a mission brief followed by a flight to see an in-air refueling mission. The intent of the visit to Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base was to familiarize the governor with the 151st ARW missions and capabilities, as well as meet the Airmen who help make it happen. Cox was greeted by Maj. Gen. Michael Turley, the adjutant general of the Utah National Guard, along with Brig. Gen. Daniel Boyack, assistant adjutant general-Air, and Command Chief Master Sgt. Brian Garrett, state command chief, then proceeded to learn more about the wing s history, missions and future outlooks.

Charlene Dalto is expecting a big promotion on Saturday.  She ll become the first woman ever to rise to the rank of brigadier general in the Utah Army National Guard, and become commander of the Land Component Command.  Dalto has served in the military for more than 38 years. She s a registered nurse with Intermountain Healthcare who lives in Farmington.  After 20 years in the Army, Dalto was promoted to the rank of master sergeant before she was commissioned to the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, where she was an officer for 18 years. She deployed overseas to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm in 1990.

Charlene Dalto made history by being promoted to Brigadier General and assuming the role of commander of the Utah Army National Guard Land Component Command. Dalto is the first female to be promoted to brigadier general in the Utah army National Guard. In the Ceremony saturday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox offered his congratulations to Dalto. Of course we do not promote officers based on their performance alone and Colonel Dalto has undoubtedly had an outstanding career, Cox said in a speech at the ceremony. She is being promoted today due to her demonstrated potential to continue the Utah Army National Guards tradition of excellence.
