It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nonna (grandmother) and great grandmother Santina Maria Copetti on January 14, 2021 with family at her bedside. Santina was born in Ospedaletto Gemona del Friuli, Italy on April 30, 1928. She met the love of her life Tarcisio and they married on February 18, 1950. Dad immigrated to Canada in 1953 to seek a better life for his family and mom followed him in 1954 with two young sons Renato and Gilbert and later welcomed two daughters Eleonora and Marina in Thunder Bay. It was hard for mom with a language barrier but she managed to learn quickly. With no family support she eventually overcame many obstacles and made many new friends. Her passion to keep a tidy home so clean you could eat off of her floor, provide delicious meals and tend to a beautiful productive garden were some of her talents.
