Sydney man, Mert Ney, who went on a violent rampage in the CBD in 2019 after stabbing a woman to death has been sentenced to 44 years behind bars.
The family of 24-year-old Michaela Dunn thanked bystanders who tried to stop the killer in the streets.

The man who murdered Sydney woman Michaela Dunn before terrorising the city’s streets with a knife has been sentenced to 44 years behind bars, for what a judge described as a violent, terrifying and chaotic rampage .
Mert Ney repeatedly stabbed the 24-year-old in a CBD apartment in August 2019, before filming the crime scene on his phone and sending graphic videos to friends on social media.
He then ran through the CBD with a knife, seriously injuring bystander Lin Bo and slashing at members of the public until bystanders pinned him down with a milk crate and chair.

The sister of a woman killed before a stabbing rampage through Sydney s CBD has broken down after Mert Ney was jailed for a maximum 44 years.
Ney pleaded guilty to three charges including the murder of Michaela Dunn, who was stabbed to death in a Clarence Street apartment in August 2019.
Ms Dunn s mother Joanne dropped her head and wept in the NSW Supreme Court as a life sentence was ruled out.
Justice Peter Johnson found Ney s mental health issues contributed to his offending and sentenced him to 44 years in jail with a non-parole term of 33 years.
