Harold Hogan Appointed Pct 2 JP

By a unanimous vote of 5-0, Brown County Commissioners voted Monday morning, April 26, 2021 to appoint Harold Hogan to fill the unexpired term of Justice of the Peace of Precinct 2.  It was announced by County Judge Dr. Paul Lilly that Hogan will be sworn-in at next Monday’s county commission meeting on May 3rd . According to Precinct 2 Commissioner, Joel Kelton, a committee interviewed two applicants for the job. Hogan will take the place of retiring Judge Mike Holder.

Two Brown County JP s to Retire, Applications to Fill Terms Being Accepted

Letters of retirement were approved by Brown County Commissioners when they met Monday morning, April 5. They accepted letters of retirement from Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace, Jim Cavanaugh, and Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, Mike Holder.  Cavanaugh’s retirement is effective June 30, 2021.  Holder’s retirement is effect April 30, 2021. Commissioners voted to approve that applications for appointment to fill the unexpired term of JP 4 be accepted and to establish a committee to review and interview applicants then make recommendations to Commissioner’s Court.  Applications will be accepted until April 23, 2021 at 4:30 pm. The committee considering applications will be Commissioner Larry Traweek, County Attorney Shane Britton and Precinct 1 JP Doug Hurt.

Co Commissioners Schedule Busy Monday Meeting

Brown County Commissioners will meet Monday, April 5, at 9:00 am in the Commissioner’s Court on the first floor of the Brown County Courthouse.  Among several items on the agenda, Commissioners will consider setting a date for a special Brown County Commissioners Court meeting outside of regular business hours for discussion only regarding possible tax abatement with IP Radian.  The full agenda is below. 1. Declare a Quorum and Call Meeting to Order 2. Prayer- 3. Recognition of Special Guests and Presentations. 4. Citizen Comments (All speakers will be required to adhere to the rules of procedure, conduct and decorum adopted by the Court on August 12, 2019. Any disruptive, abusive, obscene, or disrespectful behavior will be terminated immediately.)
