Mayors Monday: Wausauâs Katie Rosenberg By Mike Leischner
May 10, 2021 | 5:00 AM
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) â Wausau residents will get a chance to weigh in on how the city should spend some $15.5 million in American Recovery Act funding during a public open house and listening session this week.
Rosenberg says itâs another way she is trying to make local government accessible to everyone. âI talked to the finance [committee] chair and I just said âletâs do thisâ- so we set it up because we want to hear from people.â
Like many other local and regional municipalities the city is looking to see if the funding will help scratch a few items off their public works projects list such as lead service line replacement or to help with the cost of upgrades to the water treatment plants.

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) â The proposal for a RoboCop statue in Stevens Point has gone from a funny viral story to a real possibility.
Mayor Mike Wiza says while the issue hasnât been a priority for him; heâs obviously got bigger fish to fry, he has enjoyed working in the background to connect those who have made the project a priority.
âItâs on the back burner for me, but other people have just taken it up and run with it,â said Wiza. âAnything someone wants to do thatâs going to make our community a little better Iâm in favor of; and if I can help clear the path I will certainly do that.â
