Midwest Communications Wausau Stations Honored at Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards Ceremony

By Mike Leischner Wisconsin Broadcasters Association MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wausau’s Rock 94.7 was named the medium-market music station of the year for the state of Wisconsin last week during the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Awards Gala. “It means a lot to win station of the year especially with how tough 2020 was on a lot of people,” said Rock 94.7 Brand Manager Ryan Fantozzi. “My goal each day was to provide our listeners with a positive and entertaining distraction to everything that was going on. I’m extremely proud that my staff provided that outlet for our listeners each day.” Fantozzi also won numerous honors for interviews and features he recorded and produced with artists such as Written by Wolves, The Violent, and Diamante. All of those honors factored into the point total that led to the station of the year honor.

Mayor Mike Wiza says while the issue hasn’t been a priority for him; he’s obviously got bigger fish to fry, he has enjoyed working in the background to connect those who have made the project a priority. “It’s on the back burner for me, but other people have just taken it up and run with it,” said Wiza. “Anything someone wants to do that’s going to make our community a little better I’m in favor of; and if I can help clear the path I will certainly do that.”

Mayors Monday: Marshfield Administrator Steve Barg By Mike Leischner Apr 26, 2021 5:00 AM MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The city of Marshfield is still without a Mayor and a Chief of Police, but City Administrator Steve Barg isn’t in panic mode just yet. “Cheif Rick Gramza left on an early termination agreement before there were some hearings regarding some concerns about his employment. The mayor was removed by a vote of the council a couple of weeks later,” said Gramza, summing up the events that led to both positions being vacated. “Those things are still issues we are continuing to work through.” In addition to what to do about those vacancies, there are also complaints against two members of the city’s Fire and Police Commission and a request for an investigation into several members of the City Council. “We’re still, we’re still rocky here in terms of getting through these issues and getting to the end of the tunnel.â€�
