Five People Arrested As Police Confiscate 25 Bags Of Chamba In Mzimba

At least five people have been arrested in Mzimba, Jenda after being found in possession of Chamba without license. The arrest followed a joint and intelligence driven operation by police officers from Jenda and Mzuzu which occurred on the night of June 7, 2021 at Khosolo village. During the said operation, police managed to arrest Reuben Banda, 35, who was found with 25 kilograms of the illicit drug; Geoffrey Kachilika, 29, who was found carrying a 50-kilogram bag on a motorcycle and Mike Banda, 28, who was found with 11 (eleven) bags. Other are Lyson Banda, 19, who was found with 11 (eleven) bags and James Sopani Mkandawire, 35, who was found with two bags on a motorcycle, heading Nkhamenya Trading Centre, all weighing 50 kilograms.

Malawian man gets six year jail sentence for fake robbery By IOL Reporter Share Johannesburg - A Malawian was sentenced to six years in prison for opening a false business robbery case at a Johannesburg police station three years ago. Daniel Mike Banda, 39, had opened a case of business robbery when he told police that he had been accosted by 15 suspects at Lockie’s Plastic, a business based in Turfontein, in the south of Johannesburg. Last week, the Johannesburg Magistrates Court sentenced Banda to six years imprisonment on a charge of perjury. Joburg Central police spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele said the convict had reported a business robbery case which had purportedly taken place in the early hours of Christmas Day in 2018.
