TORONTO, Canada After a couple false starts, Toronto FC found their way into the win column for the first time this MLS season Wednesday night, against the defending champions Columbus SC. Now, the Reds will try to do that all over again, this time at Yankee Stadium against the New York City FC.
Kick-off is scheduled for 1 PM ET and can be watched on TSN 4 and CTV.
With Wednesday’s win, Chris Armas and his squad will have settled the nerves amongst the Reds faithful after their slow start. The offence, a big part of what made this Reds team unrecognizable, looked rejuvenated, by going back to basics, with new Designated Player Yefferson Soteldo handed his first start in a Reds shirt.
It’s the first edition this year of the Trillium Cup as Toronto FC play host to Columbus SC. Will Toronto FC pick up their first win of the season? Follow along tonight’s action with Michael Singh.

86’ GOAAAAALLLLL!!! Toronto FC 2-0 Columbus SC: JOZY ALTIDORE!!!! Omar Gonzalez gets up at the far post off a free kick, heads the ball back across the face of goal, and it’s a crashing Altidore finishing the play off on the goal line! That’s huge for Jozy.
Waterford FC have informed the FAI that they will not be playing Sligo Rovers this weekend.
The club have decided to forfeit their Premier Division meeting with Rovers which was scheduled to take place this Saturday.
A senior squad member tested positive for covid-19 last week and several close contacts within the first team meant that the team could not take the field for the visit of Drogheda to the RSC.
The U19 team were sent out to play The Drogs last Saturday, with the result telling a tale of what happens when men play boys. The full time score from the RSC saw the visitors claim a healthy 7 nil victory.

Waterford FC is to field its under 19 squad in today’s home fixture at the RSC against Drogheda FC.
In a statement released last night the club said two of the senior squad players were deemed close contacts of a confirmed case of Covid-19.
Although a ‘wide testing programme’ had yielded no positive tests, the decision was made to stand down the entire squad due to a ‘public safety ethos’.
Rather than call off the game, the club, which is languishing at the bottom of the league, will give the game time to the Under-19s.
