A Greenville County school board member called on the district to announce its plans for the fall 2021-22 school year in a tense exchange with the superintendent during a board meeting Tuesday.
The school district, which is the largest in South Carolina, has yet to announce if students will attend schools in-person and full-time next year.
Currently, about one-third of the estimated 74,000 students in the district are virtual because of COVID-19. The elementary and middle school students who opted for in-person learning are attending full-time, while high school students attend between three and four days a week on a 75% in-person attendance plan.
