The Alabama Legislature approved a bill this year to move the oversight of school construction projects of $500,000 or less from a state agency to local school boards.
House Bill 220 did not change the oversight of that state agency the Division of Construction Management on school projects of more than $500,000. HB 220 did remove all community college projects, regardless of size, from the DCM’s oversight.
