Flint City Council president says she supports restarting virtual committee meetings

FLINT, MI City Council members still aren’t ready to meet in person, but President Kate Fields says it’s time to return to regular committee meetings that have been on hold since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
Fields said she intends to discuss the issue during council’s meeting Monday, Jan. 25, and said she believes holding committee meetings virtually will help cut down on the length of regular meetings.

FLINT, MI City Council members remain divided on whether to settle lawsuits related to the Flint water crisis, recessing its meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, after members failed to reach an agreement after more than six hours of debate.
The Flint City Council is scheduled to try again when the meeting resumes Thursday, Dec. 17., while attorneys involved in the proposed $641-million settlement are warning that changing the deal that took years to negotiate isn’t an option.
