Voting for the third phase of the panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh began on Monday with more than 2.72 lakh candidates in the fray in over 2.14 lakh seats across 20 districts of the state.
Polling is underway in Shamli, Meerut, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Kasganj, Firozabad, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Unnao, Amethi, Barabanki, Balrampur, Siddharthanagar, Deoria, Chandauli, Mirzapur, and Ballia. Voting started at 7 am on a peaceful note. It will continue till 6 pm, a State Election Commission (SEC) official said here.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 19 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh witnesses 10.10 per cent voters turnout till 9 am on Monday in the second phase of the Panchayat elections.
Voting began today at 7 am with COVID-19 protocols in place.
Among the poll-bound districts, Budaun recorded the highest turnout with 13 per cent polling till 9 am. While UP s Gonda recorded the lowest tally till the said period.
Apart from it, the state capital Lucknow witnesses 11 per cent of polling followed by Varanasi 9 per cent, Amroha 10.11 per cent , Azamgarh 10. 7 per cent, Etawah 9.5 per cent, Etah 11.58 per cent, Kannauj 9 per cent, Gautam Buddh Nagar 10.50 per cent.
Voting is being held from 7 am to 6 pm at Kakori block of Amethia Salempur village.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 19 (ANI): A large number of people turned out at polling booths to cast their votes in Lucknow for the second phase of Uttar Pradesh Panchayat polls on Monday.
Voting is being held from 7 am to 6 pm at Kakori block of Amethia Salempur village.
In the view of an increasing number of coronavirus cases the COVID-19 protocols are being followed at the polling booth, voters said.

Voting for the second phase of the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat elections began on Monday with COVID-19 protocols in place.
Over three crore voters will decide the fate of the candidates in 20 districts of the state including, the state capital Lucknow.
The polls are being held for the posts of members of zila panchayats, and kshetra panchayats.
Voting has started from 7 am and will end at 6 pm where 3,23,69,256 voters will exercise their franchise.
81-year-old so far has never missed voting in any election
Etawah: Samajwadi Party patriarch and founder Mulayam Singh Yadav did not cast his vote in panchayat elections in his native Saifai village on Monday following a request from family members in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to family sources, the 81-year-old so far has never missed voting in any election. We requested Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) not to come to Saifai to cast his vote this time for the panchayat elections in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and luckily, he agreed to our request. Currently, Netaji is in Delhi, Dharmendra Yadav, nephew of Mulayam Singh Yadav, told PTI.
