(The Charlotte Observer) - More change is coming to Bank of America Stadium. The Carolina Panthers announced Wednesday that the field will be switching from natural grass to artificial turf. The new field is expected to be in place by the summer. The stadium will use FieldTurf, which is used in five other NFL stadiums (Atlanta, Detroit, New England, Seattle and New York Giants/Jets) and 11 other NFL practice facilities (those six teams plus Green Bay, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington).

Rock Hill NAACP Moments after the verdict was read live on TV, people in Rock Hill gathered for a moment of prayer, reflection and meditation for the Floyd family.  Norma Gray, president of the Rock Hill NAACP, was at the gathering and said the jury s decision would not hold any weight if the country does not build on the momentum. However, she said she hopes it is a step toward trust. It s significant because at some point you have to be able to trust that there can be equality, Gray said. And sometimes that s a difficult message to convey when all you see is inequality.  

Uptown Charlotte protest held calling for end to racial injustice

Updated: 10:07 PM EDT April 18, 2021 CHARLOTTE, N.C. A group of protesters gathered in Uptown Charlotte Sunday night calling for an end to racial injustice. WCNC Charlotte reporter Lexi Wilson was in Uptown and estimated that roughly 40 people were in attendance.  Protests have also been happening across the country in recent days following the shooting death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. The officer in that incident, Kim Potter, has resigned and has since been charged with second-degree manslaughter.  Protesters in Charlotte chanted Sunday night Justice for George Floyd and Black Lives Matter as they moved through the streets of Uptown. From the protests to a pending verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial, many have felt compelled to speak up.

Two weeks into the Tigers’ second season, graduate transfer Casey Bigham is off and running. So far, Bigham has played a critical role in Clemson softball’s early success. The Tigers are 6-2 in their first eight games of the season, an achievement that includes the program’s second ranked win over then-No. 14 Virginia Tech and a sweep over Georgia Tech in Clemson’s first-ever ACC road series. Bigham was instrumental in Clemson’s victory over the Hokies, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and one stolen base.
