City looking for development ideas for historic Putnam building

The Daily Reporter Have an idea on what could be done with the former Putnam Funeral Home at the northeast corner of Four Corners Park in Coldwater?  City Manager Keith Baker said “The city is accepting development proposals for the building” now that the roof is underway.  Braman Roofing is doing the work and will warranty the asphalt shingles. It is also  repairing the east side soffit and facia under its  $41,180 contract as the only bidder.  The city bought the historic building for $1 to save it in a 5-4 council vote.  It may need more work. An asbestos and lead-based paint testing company has collected samples from throughout the building and it is awaiting the results. The city’s work is intended to keep the building from further deterioration after a serious roof leak was found. Parts of the roof stairs also had to be stabilized.

Asked if it could be expanded, Baker said other city locations might be used if the need is there.
