A member of the Arlington Police Department has been placed on administrative leave following a complaint from a Somerville resident who was detained police following a pursuit by officers. In consultation with the town s labor counsel, we determined that this was the best move for all parties going forward while the investigation is continuing, Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine said in an interview.
Following an incident on Feb. 10, the Somerville man posted about his mistreatment by the APD on social media. The post has since been taken down, according to Chapdelaine.
Chapdelaine said that the investigation needs to determine two key elements of the incident. The first is if police rightfully detained the suspect while they were involved in an investigation, and the second is if the officer inappropriately used force in detaining the suspect.
