According to Police Chief Marc Hagan, the resident “managed to get hold of the fox as it attacked and held it” until officers arrived and killed the animal. At about 8:15 a.m. Sunday, a fox attacked a 37-year-old Mallett Drive woman gardening in her yard. Topsham police officers killed the animal. Neither the woman nor the officers were bitten. The animal s remains were sent to the state laboratory in Augusta for testing.
