A lawsuit listing multiple plaintiffs including former District 2 candidate Khanh-Lien Banko is set to be filed "this week" against Alachua County School Board member Diyonne McGraw. Last week, residents began a petition alleging that McGraw lived in District 4 rather than District 2. Because McGraw represents District 2, she is required by law to live there. The Supervisor of Elections Office has since confirmed that McGraw lives in.
An online group called "Concerned Alachua County Parents" created a petition calling for McGraw to resign because the home she listed on forms is outside her district.
They say it violates the U.S. Constitution and the Voting Rights Act. One lawsuit said the law is discriminatory and will disproportionately disenfranchise Black, Hispanic, disabled and elderly voters. Personally, I’m still processing.
