TOWN OF EVANS, N.Y. (WKBW) â Along the shores of Lake Erie, dozens of concerned community members stood shoulder to shoulder holding signs reading âSave Sturgeon Point Marina.â
âAll these people who are here today own this marina, and they own the lake too,â said former Town of Evans Supervisor Bob Catalino. Cartalino was the Evans Town Supervisor in the 1970s and 1980s. He was on the board who helped purchase the marina for the Town of Evans.
âIt has never been shut down before,â he said.

TOWN OF EVANS, N.Y. (WKBW) â The Town of Evans announced Monday West Herr Automotive Group made a donation in support of opening Sturgeon Point Marina for the summer.
Officials say the donation, $162,000 to the Town of Evans, is in direct response to the bid the Town of Evans Town Board approved unanimously on Friday at a special meeting.
Officials say the award-winning bid was granted to Union Concrete and will ensure use of Union Labor. Dredging of the launch area of Sturgeon Point Marina is expected begin this week. Launch fees will also not increase ($15 per launch) for both Town of Evans residents and non-residents this summer.
Vanderstyne Toyota in Greece NY acquired by West Herr Automotive Group
The West Herr Automotive Group has acquired Vanderstyne Toyota on West Ridge Road in Greece, the Erie County-based company announced via a news release last week. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed
The location, at 4374 W. Ridge Road, just east of Manitou Road, reopened Monday morning as West Herr Toyota of Rochester. The Toyota dealership was open for 29 years prior to the change, according to West Herr.
With the new site, the auto group will have five dealerships in Monroe County Mercedes-Benz of Rochester and BMW of Rochester, both in Henrietta, and West Herr Ford and West Herr Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, which are both across the road from the new dealership in Greece.
