Easton is being rebuilt, brick by brick with Legos.
Brick Easton is now on display at the SmARTivities Showcase, 60 Centre Square, following an opening night parade Friday with the Big Easy Easton Brass band.
Jeremy Joseph is behind both the bricks and the band. The West Ward native recreated some of the city’s landmarks and events with the building blocks the famous reading of the Declaration of Independence in Centre Square, the annual line for fastnachts at Easton Baking Co., and the band’s own Mardi Gras parade outside Two Rivers Brewing.

The Easton Area School Board agreed not to levy real estate taxes on 13 Easton properties next year and gradually collect taxes until they finally collect full taxes on the properties in 10 years.
This isn’t some “tax scam” but a well-reasoned decision to spur redevelopment in the city, according to Easton Mayor Sal Panto Jr.
“In the suburbs you grow by building out. In the city you grow by rebuilding and adaptive reuse of existing structures,” Panto told the school board Tuesday. You can hear his comments on the meeting video on YouTube.

Further to recent letters from Phil Jordan and Steve Sheridan about town and parish councils, I wish to raise the issue of the reality that on the Isle of Wight there are 33 parish and town councils and in the 2021 May elections only 11 have contests in some or all of their wards and only Bembridge and Sandown have contests in all their wards.
