Canyon News TOPANGA Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide is asking for the public’s help to identify a homicide suspect. The LAPD reported on Monday, February 22, around 11:42 p.m., Topanga Area officers responded to a radio call at West Hills Hospital for a shooting victim. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was being treated for multiple gunshot wounds. The hospital staff advised officers an unknown male dropped the victim off and left. Officers observed video footage that showed a male driving an older model sedan drop off the victim then drive away. On Tuesday, February 23, around 12:20 a.m., the victim died from his injuries sustained. The victim has been identified as Tony Dunn, 26, of Northridge.

A new requirement is supposed to protect you from those unpredictable expenses, but the NBC4 I-Team learned not all hospitals are following the rule. She was stunned weeks later when she got the bill: that trip to the ER cost $3,100. And despite her insurance, which costs her $1,600 a month, she was still on the hook for $1,300.

A win for union members includes Los Robles’ first union contract for licensed health care professionals, made up of 120 pharmacists; clinical laboratory scientists; physical, speech and occupational therapists; social workers; and dieticians. This particular union was formed in December 2019.

It also stipulates the hiring of dozens of nurses at each hospital to ensure other staff get adequate rest and meal breaks. If ratified, it will be the first union contract for employees at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California. About 120 pharmacists, clinical laboratory scientists, physical, speech and occupational therapists, social workers and dietitians formed their union in December of 2019.

(KABC) A planned strike by nurses at three Southern California hospitals has been averted after a new deal with reached with the union, hospital officials announced Saturday. Nurses at Riverside Community Hospital, West Hills Hospital and Medical Center and Los Robles Health System had authorized a 10-day strike starting Christmas Eve, over allegations of unfair labor practices and a failure to protect staff during the coronavirus pandemic. Now the union, SEIU 121RN, has agreed to a new contract, according to a spokesperson for Healthcare Corp. of America, Far West Division, which operates the three facilities.
