POSSIBLE THEFT
A downtown store owner said a man may have been shoplifting. Officer talked with the suspect and he claimed he did not remember taking any items. He consented to a search of his person and no items were found. Prior video evidence was inconclusive. He was trespassed from the property and told not to return.
IDENTITY THEFT
A woman said someone used her personal information to make an online purchase. A report was filed.
DOMESTIC COMPLAINT
A call to North Walnut Street found an argument ensuing. Two of the parties packed and left the scene. All were warned for disorderly conduct.

JOLIET, IL A 28-year-old Joliet man attacked a woman, threatening to kill her as he choked her, forced her head into a wall and kitchen table in the 300 block of Wheeler Avenue on Wednesday night, according to Joliet police. The woman got away and ran out of the house, flagging down a Joliet police officer patrolling the neighborhood, reports show.
On Thursday,
Anastacio Salazar was charged with aggravated domestic battery, criminal property damage, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, unlawful restraint and assault, according to the Joliet Police Department.

The village spearheaded a fireworks display for the 4th of July celebration, despite the challenges of COVID-19. Businesses and individuals responded and provided funding for the display.

Demolition of historic HPM plant began Dec. 22, 2020. The HPM plastics and die-casting equipment operation closed in 2009, bringing an end to more than 130 years of machinery manufacturing in Mount Gilead. It was a 400,000-square-foot facility. The company was founded here in 1877 to make apple presses.
