Mother faces court on quite a number of drug charges

Premium Content Subscriber only A mother has faced Mackay Magistrates Court via video link from jail to hear a string of drug-related charges read out to her. Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said there were “quite a number” as she detailed Claudia Lorina Jeffries’ nine alleged offences in West Mackay on March 22 earlier this year. They included unlawful possession of dangerous drugs marijuana, gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid — commonly known as the date rape drug, methamphetamines, amphetamines and methylamphetamines. Claudia Lorina Jeffries faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday, May 17, 2021. Ms Jeffries was also charged with possessing without authorisation the controlled drugs pregabalin — an anticonvulsant and anxiolytic medication, and Amitriptyline — an antidepressant.

Premium Content Subscriber only A Mackay man with “substantial” criminal history will be punished for breaching bail conditions after getting kicked out of a domestic violence program. Acting Magistrate John Aberdeen said “something had to be done” about Daniel Erich Recker who faced Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday. The court heard Recker was sentenced to 12 months probation in April last year after pleading guilty to common assault domestic violence and aggravated contravention of a domestic violence order. But on March 8 this year, he contravened the bail conditions by failing to complete the mandatory United Care domestic violence program or seeking counselling.
