Twentynine Palms Marines and sailors started receiving vaccinations for COVID-19 last week. In a joint-unit vaccine inoculation exercise outside the Combat Center’s West Gym, medical personnel from the Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms started administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Marines from various units on the base, including 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines and 1st Tanks Battalion. Corp. Zackary Blok, assigned to the 1st Tanks, said he is comfortable taking the vaccine. “I have a lot of friends who have taken it and nothing’s happened to them; so I feel pretty good about it.” The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine received emergency-use authorization from the FDA after an analysis of 30,351 participants in a randomized trial.
