Around seven-thirty on Thursday night, Kevonn Wade sat on his veranda on Main Street in Punta Gorda. Little did he know that he would be the target of a gunman who appeared and opened fire in his direction. Reports are that the echo of at least six blasts was heard in the area. The thirty-seven-year-old, who is originally from Western Paradise Village in the Belize District, was rushed to the Punta Gorda Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A man has lost his left leg following a traffic collision which took place on the George Price Highway on December 22. The man, identified as James Muschamp, was rushed to the KHMH sometime around 7:30p.m.
The Guardian has confirmed that sometime around 7:12p.m., Muschamp was travelling to Belize City on his motorcycle near Mile 7 when he was hit by an incoming vehicle. Witnesses say that a black Mercury car was heading towards Western Paradise Village when it overtook vehicles travelling in the same direction. It was at that point that the driver’s side of the car hit Muschamp’s motorcycle causing the cycle’s driver to be flung off his bike into a nearby ditch. Muschamp sustained various injuries including a mangled left leg. Despite doctor’s efforts his left leg could not be saved and it had to be amputated.
