Megan Sales of Hendersonville Middle School is Nurse of the Year

From staff reports Megan Sales of Hendersonville Middle has been named the 2020-21 School Nurse of the Year for Henderson County Public Schools.  All school nurses were honored by the school district on National School Nurse Day Wednesday for the role they play in keeping students and staff safe. Sales was nominated by her peers for the care she provides every day for her students and school, the Henderson County Health Department said in a news release.  “To be given the title of School Nurse of the Year truly is an honor after this challenging year during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Sales said in the release. “I believe we have an amazing team of school nurses who embody the definition of this title each time they step on their own school campus. I am proud to be a Henderson County school nurse.”

Local pop-punk band The Camel City Blackouts has new EP out and another on the way

Another Night Listen to us on Spotify! In January, the pop-punk band released its latest EP titled “13.” The EP features three songs. They are the rock song “Angels,” an acoustic rendition of “Another Night,” as well as an electric version of “Another Night.” Work is underway on more songs, and the band members hope to have another EP out this summer. The band’s debut album, “Possession,” was released in 2019. Ryan Sizemore and Derek Gilreath, both graduates of East Forsyth High School, started the band in 2015. Sizemore, 33, is a singer/songwriter and plays the guitar. He has lived in Kernersville all his life and has an associate’s degree in industrial systems technology from Guilford Technical Community College.
