GUYANA: Three remanded for brutal murder of Henry cousins Spread the love Three men who are accused of the brutal murders of teen cousins, Isaiah and Joel Henry, appeared before Magistrate Peter Hugh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Those charged are 20-year-old Akash Singh, called “Monkey,” of Zeelugt Squatting Area, East Bank Essequibo (EBE); his stepbrother, 34-year-old Anil Sancharra, called “Dan pole” and “Rasta,” of D’ Edward Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB); and 30-year-old Vinod Gopaul, called “Magga,” of Yakusari, Black Bush Polder, Corentyne, Berbice. Sancharra and Gopaul were charged jointly while Singh was charged separately with two counts of murder. It is alleged that they murdered the cousins between September 5, 2020, and September 6, 2020, at Cotton Tree Backdam, WCB.

Gail Johnson and her son, Colwyn Henry, who are the mother and brother of Joel Henry, were jointly charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, and one count of disorderly behaviour. Johnson was also separately charged with resisting a police officer and obstructing a peace officer, while Henry was separately charged with failing to produce a driver’s licence, and resisting a peace officer.
